From the Pastor – April 2012

Christ’s sacrifice fully satisfied the righteous demands of the justice of
God, and His offering of Himself was sufficient “for the sins of the whole
world”. But it is only applied to you when you surrender and call upon Him
for the forgiveness of your sin. This is evidence that you truly believe.
Those who ask to be “forgiven” but have no intention or desire to be
changed in the direction of obedience to the moral Law of God, as revealed
in His Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, are not seeking the Lord
and true Biblical forgiveness. They are asking to be excused, not forgiven
and cleansed, only exempted from payment. They lack what our Catholic
friends call “a purpose of amendment”.
Upon repentance you have turned your heart to the Lord. In prayer
you asked Him to be your Savior. Having done this you have the right to
believe God is true to His Word and grants you His promised Spirit and
eternal life.
“These things have I written unto you who believe on the
name of the Son of God: that you may know that you have
eternal life.” I John 5:13

The fearful truth is that those who refuse Christ’s gracious
invitation remain, by their own choice, under “the wrath of God”.
This divine “wrath” is not some emotional rage from heaven. The
clear New Testament disclosure of the nature of God presented in and through
Jesus Christ is not one of a furious, ill-tempered, angry Being. Even the
Old Testament, when properly understood shows the God of Israel
broken-hearted over the sin and suffering of His wayward people.
The Greek word used by New Testament writers for Divine “wrath”
denotes God’s fixed attitude and just commitment against sin and evil. This
flows from the Creator’s perfect righteousness and His great unfailing love
for His creatures and His creation. Because of God’s holy love for His
creation and His people, He is committed to destroy that which would destroy
them, and which by its very nature would destroy all that is good.
The most evil of individuals can be forgiven, cleansed, and be made
to learn righteousness. But intrinsic evil cannot be made good; it must be
destroyed; just as cancer cells, infectious bacteria, and destructive
viruses.
The judgment of God allows stubborn evil to run its course to its
own deserved end. As the law of cause and effect operates in the natural
order, there is a “built-in” principle of moral and spiritual “sowing and
reaping”.
In the words of Fredrick Von Logau:
“Though the mills of God grind slowly, yet they grind
exceeding small; Though with patience He
stands waiting, With exactness grinds He all.”
The judicial effect of this holy wrath, programmed into the
existence of rebellious man and his godless systems, begins with a reflexive
inward darkness, an inherent spiritual blindness which permits the rejecter
to “go on still in his trespasses”, and reap his just reward.
This self-determined condition is the ultimate existential tragedy.
But in spite of his spiritually desolate state, although he cannot attain a
moral level or quality of righteousness worthy of God’s favor, man has been
given the ability to see and recognize right from wrong, and thus he remains
accountable for his life-choices.
“For when the nations, which have not the law, do by nature the
things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law unto
themselves: which show the work of the law written in their hearts,
their reasoning meanwhile accusing or excusing them”. Romans 2: 14, 15

Jesus challenged the religious leaders of His day.
“Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is
right?” Luke 12:57

Even the imperfect justice we observe in this world reveals the
reality of the concept. There is such a thing; longed for but often
illusive.
We assess injustice by its approximation to what we conceive as true
justice. Every culture, people and nation bears witness to the presence of a
“judicial sentiment” programmed into the human mind and heart. Even little
children know when “it isn’t fair!”
If there is no justice beyond this life, no righting of the massive
wrongs of sin-sick humankind, then life and human existence are indeed
valueless and absurd. And some actually prefer to believe in a valueless and
absurd existence in the vain hope of avoiding the coming judgment of God. Is
it not a deadly delusion to convince ourselves, ( and each other), that the
One revealed in Scripture as “the Judge of all earth” will not call every
person to give an account of himself and “be recompensed for his deeds done
in the body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad”?
However literal or long hell may or may not be, the truth of God’s
Word is clear, for those who refuse His gracious offer of salvation:
“The Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father with His
angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works”.
Matthew 16:27

“Every transgression and disobedience receives its just recompense
of reward”. Hebrews 2:2

Dear reader, if there is any doubt in your mind on this matter, you
must call upon the Lord in prayer; specifically asking Him for His
forgiveness and salvation, with a willingness to allow Him to begin His
process of transforming your desires and cleansing your life.
The prayer of surrender is the initial evidence of true repentance
and saving faith. At this point there may be little or no ability to do His
will, but His Spirit will begin to empower you. And though God’s gift of
forgiveness is free, and He accepts you as you are, it will be followed by
His progressive, lifelong work of moral and spiritual transformation.
If you feel resistant to this change, you desperately need to ask
God to show you the enormity and deformity of your sin lest it harden your
heart eternally.
For some, conversion may bring areas of sudden and dramatic change,
for others a more gradual process. But for all, the proof of eternal life is
spiritual growth. If there is no noticeable spiritual and moral improvement;
no new interest in God’s Word or meaningful prayer, there must be a reality
check.

The complete absence of the true spirit of holiness is increasingly becoming
the norm for the leadership of the “Americanized” church.
From the days of the prophets of Israel to this present moment in history
the Enemy has sought defile the house of God by an unholy mixture of pagan
idolatry with true worship.
Then they worshipped idols of wood and stone; false gods that stood before
their eyes. Now their idols are behind their eyes; the gods of assimilated
and promulgated false ideas. The result is the same. spiritual death.
In His house today are Pastors and people so deeply infected by
anti-Biblical cultural “isms” they are convinced they actually occupy some
imagined higher moral ground by not only affirming, but in many cases
celebrating, as perfectly acceptable, behavior which is spiritually
defiling, statistically proven to be destructive, and clearly pronounced by
Scripture, unnatural and abominable in the sight of God.
They have set their abominations in the house
which is called by My name, to pollute it”
Jeremiah 7:30, 23; 11, 12, II Chronicles 33:4, 7.
Some, having so blurred the lines between the holy and unholy by their
absolute rejection (by rationalistic/naturalistic reinterpretation) of the
Biblical sexual ethic, actually claim to have arrived at:
” nothing less than the recovery of the gospel itself, the good news”.

Only by an absolute repudiation of the clear teaching of Scripture can
anyone attempt to baptize the degenerate amoral spirit of the age into the
life of the Church and, amazingly, call their betrayal of the truth a
superior form of “Christian love”.
“Man defends himself against truth, as a child does
against medicine. We are always making God our
accomplice, that so we may legalize our own iniquities.”
Henri Amiel

The churches that failed to be faithful; choosing rather to follow liberal
theology’s surrender to rationalism as a replacement for the authority of
the Word of God, thereby forfeited the anointing of the Spirit of Truth,
leaving their leaders spouting endless social and political pronouncements
and cravenly capitulating to the party-line of the secular left.
How scandalously bizarre it is, to those who have been truly born of God’s
Spirit, to hear church leaders gushing that a denominational agreement to
repudiate the clear Biblical sexual-ethic and replace it with “more tolerant evolving cultural norms” was a “wonderful fresh move of the Holy Spirit”.
In their spiritual blindness, the result of spiritual betrayal, their
mission has become virtually identical to the agenda of the kosmos: the
“cosmetic” current godless world-system.
Followers of the gods of modernity seem willing to accept anything but the
heart and soul of the New Testament message; that Jesus Christ is the
sinless Son of God and remains man’s only Savior.
In today’s anything-goes religious atmosphere the most objectionable
interpretation of Scripture is described as “the scandal of particularity”:
the clear Biblical assertion that there is only one revealed way to the
living and true God.
“For there is one God and one mediator between
God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
I Timothy 2:5

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.
John 14:6

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is
none other name under heaven given among men,
where we must be saved”.
Acts 4:12

“If ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins”.
John 8:24
Jesus and His followers knew that He alone was the “image of the invisible
God”. There was no other. He indeed was the “particular” One, the
Divine/human Singularity.
Those who dare to reduce Him, implying there are other ways or persons
through which we can see the true and living God, simply do not know Him.
Once you know Him, you know He is the only way.
Any notion of distorting or watering down the message, to avoid the scandal
and ingratiate themselves with the world-system, was completely alien to the
Spirit of Christ in New Testament times and has been equally odious to his
true followers in every age since.
It is tragic enough for common ordinary worldlings to ignore God and His
Word. But what is to be said for those in positions of leadership,
professors and ministers of Christ’s Church, who shamelessly deny His
claims, implying His eyewitness followers were either dumb, deluded or
dishonest, and systematically subvert the Biblical record?
What an awful price to pay to be seen as modern, intellectually respectable
and relevant. A gutted gospel is no Gospel at all, and those who serve up
dead theoretical religious ideas will always be irrelevant and anything but
respectable.
Without the experience of God Himself by the Spirit of Christ in individual
hearts, which alone brings His Presence and power, many churches find in
their services of worship, what was meant to be a divine life-changing
anointing has been replaced by spiritually powerless forms of religious
activity reduced to the aesthetic and emotional.
Joined with other distractions, aesthetically induced “spiritual” feelings
too often serve as a religious anesthetic for the emptiness and evils of
life: an attempted temporal fix for an eternal problem, a feeble idolatrous
substitute for the personal revelation of the holy love and power of the
true and living God.
All this-world induced human love, joy and peace must be viewed as emotional
states; typically situationally, chemically and/or biologically induced.
They may be real while they last, but if their source has little or no depth
or permanence, they will have neither.

The Christian’s inward experience of God’s “love, joy and peace” can, and
must, be verified as Divinely bestowed and not merely temporary human
emotional states. When these inward qualities are truly rooted in the Life
of God dwelling in the human spirit the inevitable result will be an
increasing development of what are listed in Scripture as the outward
qualities of the fruit of the Spirit:”.patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22, 23
This eternal “fruit” presents a composite of the Spirit and essential life
of Jesus Christ: that Holy Character to which each child of God is called to
be progressively conformed. Romans 8:28, 29
