March 2011- From the Pastor

Dinner On the Third Floor

Because “God is Love”, I John 4:8, 16, His heart attitude is one of
loving acceptance, free and undeserved, of any person, who, upon hearing His
offer of complete pardon for their sins, will surrender themselves to Him by
saying:”Yes Lord, I know I need to be put right with You, I repent of going
my own way instead of desiring to go Your way.” Isaiah 53:6. “But I choose
to believe and receive Your Son Jesus into my heart. John 1:12. I accept Him
as my Savior and the substitute Who bore upon Himself, on the cross, the
punishment I deserve.”
This is the “good news”- the Gospel of our salvation. Christians
should never get tired of hearing it. Non-believers should pray to God they
will receive it.
It is as though the owner of a restaurant on the third floor of a
fine hotel announced free meals for anyone who would simply show up.
Any hungry person who heard and believed enough to take the (free)
elevator to the third floor would receive a wonderful meal absolutely free.
The person did not received the meal because they deserved it for
any reason. They may be good or bad, rich or poor. Their believing and
riding the elevator in no way moved the owner to offer and provide the meal.
It was offered, prepared, and provided with no help from the hungry person.
Nothing in the person or done by the person who received the meal is seen as
causing the owner to provide it. His appetite and arrival were merely
preparatory conditions for him freely to receive. Could he boast of his
hunger, or believing, or taking the elevator, as the cause of his being fed?
Of course not.
“Come for all is now ready” Luke 14:17
When we come to Christ for His salvation we must not only be willing
to forsake our sin, but we must renounce any and all trust in our own
righteousnesses. They are not good enough to enter His perfect heaven.
Isaiah 64:6, Titus 3:5.
Our acceptance is total and complete because His work on the cross
was complete and perfect.

“Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God”. I John 3:1
Receive, and rejoice in,” the unsearchable riches” of His grace.
