December 2009 – From the Pastor

Together Serving the Lord As One Family  – December 2009

From The Pastor:

“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”

I John 4:4

It matters not how corrupt or chaotic the world around us becomes, Christians are promised the very power that our Lord Jesus displayed in His perfect life.

Remember, the Apostle Paul wrote that our Savior was made in the “likeness of sinful flesh”.

Romans 8:3

The Hebrew writer states that “in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren”, and our High Priest “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin”.              Hebrews 2:17, 4:15

Christ’s perfection is our potential.  We will only reach it fully in the world to come, but meanwhile, in this world, “…His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness… exceeding great and precious promises: that by them ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”.                       II Peter 1:3, 4

In this season when the focus should be on the infinitely precious gift of The Son of God our Savior, the world brazenly buries it under a floodtide of idolatrous materialism.

True followers of Christ have the power and privilege of being like Jesus, who despised the world-system, and whose life was lived in the Spirit, and whose magnificent obsession was “to do the will of Him that sent (Him) and to finish His work.”                                                                         John 4:34

God’s will and work for each of us is to allow His Spirit to create in us a perfect intention; the fixed desire to be increasingly “conformed to the image of (the) Son”.                                      Romans 8:29

When our purpose fully aligns with His purpose for us, the rest will take care of itself.
