November 2010 – From the Pastor

Whether they can recite them or not most people know in their hearts
that the basic principles contained in the last five of the Ten Commandments
are right. There is an ocean of evidence that confirms the heartache and
agony that results from their violation: murder, sexual promiscuity, theft,
lying, and heartless greed.
But in order to “repress the truth”, which threatens their sinful,
self-oriented lifestyle, many simply choose to live under the delusion that
somehow they will escape the consequences of their disobedience.
“Because sentence against and evil work is not executed speedily,
therefore the heart of the sons of
men is fully set in them to do evil.’
Ecclesiastes 8:11
In any other area of life this kind of thinking would be branded as
dangerous denial, self-deception and in some cases a mad gamble.
Without the life of God in the soul of man, by the regenerating
Power and Presence if the Holy Spirit, mans natural resistance to submitting
to God as his Lord, and surrendering to His holy will, blinds him to the
final horror of dying without God’s salvation.
The free gift of God’s gracious pardon, through repentance and faith
in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, has been ordained by God
to be made real before the eyes of the lost, lived out in the holy lives of
His own and through the power of their intercessory prayer.
God’s people, must begin living the promised supernatural
life, as did the true followers of the risen Christ immediately following
the first Christian Pentecost.
When God’s people yield to the Holy Spirit, renounce all trust in
human means to do eternal work, and, by a Divine discernment, came to
realize that only through prevailing prayer, including the plea for more pure-hearted intercessors who
will truly
seek His glory alone, their faithful God will add to their number. And as
time is spent in
His holy Presence, their hearts and lives will be cleansed and empowered,
the Spirit of prayer will spread and be intensified, and the life-giving
power which marked that original Christian Pentecost will return.
The essence of the saint’s experience at that initial baptism in the
Holy Spirit was not the gifts and signs, but, as the inspired record clearly
states, it was the miracle of the unseen but actual Presence of their risen
Lord; in them and among them.
This is the key element missing in the Church today, and until its
leaders and people believe it, face it, and repent of the sin that keeps
them satisfied with anything less, and everything but, God’s blessing will
continue to be withheld and Satan will continue his rampage.
Where are the believers of “the single eye”? Whose purpose for
living is nothing other and nothing less than the eternal purpose to which
we are called: to glorify God by being “conformed to the image of His Son”-
at any cost. Matthew 6:22, Romans 8:29.
This is simply original New Testament Christianity. (Where has it
gone? Try overseas, where Christ’s precious ones are paying with their lives
for believing.)
Christians may know His true Presence and power beyond any doubt.
They need only desire it above all else. Jeremiah 29:13.
