“In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world”. John 16:33

Everyone knows the truth of the first half of Jesus’ statement. But
the second part, which implies He has overcome for us, seems not to be as
real. For if it were, we would not be such chronic doubters and
complainers…
In order for God’s people to receive and maintain His power to
overcome in trials and troubles we must practice two things daily.
1. Feed your spirit with the Truth of God. “Let the word of Christ dwell in
you richly”. Colossians 3:16
2. Ask the Lord to show you the reality of our eternal hope. Don’t expect
heaven on earth. Pray for the deep awareness that He never allows anything
negative to be meaningless or permanently hurtful for you. He has a good
purpose for every experience you face. God is doing an eternal work in you.

Nothing and no one that God allows to trouble you is your enemy,
because “all things”, do indeed, “work together for the good of those who
love Him and are called according to His purpose. in order that we may be
conformed to the image of His Son”. Romans 8:28.
When you are tempted to complain, and doubt His love, or envy those
and care little or nothing about God yet seem to “have it made” in this
world, look at the millions who are hurting a thousand times worse that you,
and also remember: “.The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to
be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

“Our light affliction.” (It is “light” compared to so many others).

“Which is but for a moment.” (It is only “a moment” when compared
with our eternal hope, although it seems so long.

“Worketh for us.” (Our gracious heavenly Father will not allow
anything ultimately to work against us). Romans 8:31, Psalm 118:6

“A far more exceeding and eternal weigh of glary.” (The things God
hath prepared for those who love Him are beyond what “eye hath seen, or ear
heard, or has ever entered into man’s imagination.” I Corinthians 2:9.

“While we look not at the things which are seen. which are
temporary, but the unseen things which are eternal” II Corinthians 4:17-18.

Through our faithful feeding on the word of God and maintaining an
effective prayer- life God makes His wonderful unseen things powerfully
real to His own. Apart from this, the world eclipses the light of His love
and our eternal hope grows dim.

Do your part and God will do His?
